The Kentucky National Guard's 138th Field Artillery Brigade has used MSS during its deployment to Qatar.According to the National Guard, MSS utilizes "AI-generated algorithms and memory-learning capabilities to scan for and identify hostile systems" and distinguish them from other objects in the drone footage in the area of operation.

The recent contract is not part of Palantir's current Maven-related work for the U.S. Department of Defense.onlyOne, earlier, they were also awarded a $178 million contract for a military vehicle called TITAN, which is described as an AI-defined vehicle capable of providing actionable targeting information for augmented mission command and long-range precision fire. According to Karp, TITAN is an extension of Maven, which is consistent with TITAN's functional description and what we know about Maven's purpose.

Palantir's use of AI technology in the military sector is in the spotlight, and their partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense will drive technological innovation in the military sector, while also raising some concerns about privacy and data security. With these contracts, Palantir will continue to expand its presence in the U.S. Department of Defense, providing additional support for future battlefield intelligence analysis and decision-making.

The U.S. Department of Defense recently allocated $480 million to data processing company Palantir, with the aim of accelerating the introduction of its Maven AI warfighting code across the Department.
