As a woman working in this field, I am not surprised, but I am disappointed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Luccioni said:<\/p>\n<p>In a field like AI where diversity is clearly lacking, it\u2019s not surprising that AI is being used to generate images of ideal women.<\/p>\n<p>However, this beauty pageant is not about showing the practical role of AI, but more about empowering creators to redefine unrealistic beauty standards.<\/p>\n<p>I shudder to think about the damage this does to girls&#039; self-image. Barbie causes enough problems already, and she&#039;s not even designed to look like a real person.<\/p>\n<p>When unrealistic feminine standards are socially accepted, girls develop distorted social perceptions and when they look in the mirror they discover that they do not meet the standards in many ways.
