Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor of Tsinghua University<a href=\"https:\/\/www.1ai.net\/en\/tag\/%e5%a7%9a%e6%9c%9f%e6%99%ba\" title=\"Look at the article with the tag Yao\" target=\"_blank\" >Yao Zhizhi (1902-1989), Chinese-American physicist, astronomer and applied mathematician<\/a>Delivered a talk on Scientific Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>According to Yao, \"The world of the future must be a world of people and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.1ai.net\/en\/tag\/%e6%9c%ba%e5%99%a8%e4%ba%ba\" title=\"[Sees articles with [robots] labels]\" target=\"_blank\" >robot<\/a>Getting along in a world where robots can look all kinds of ways, of course.<strong>But I believe that in the future robots will outnumber people and will become an important part of society.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20959\" title=\"9daa15fcj00sknueq0023d000u000k0m\" src=\"https:\/\/www.1ai.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/9daa15fcj00sknueq0023d000u000k0m.jpg\" alt=\"9daa15fcj00sknueq0023d000u000k0m\" width=\"1080\" height=\"720\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to Yao, there are two most obvious trends in the development of AI:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The first trend is how about moving from weak intelligence to generalized intelligence.<\/strong>20 years ago, AI went from face recognition, to later playing Go, and is now moving towards a more generalized intelligence that can handle more things, such as text-to-speech, text-to-graphics, text-to-video, and even give it a script to make a high-level movie.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The second trend is the development of artificial intelligence<\/strong>, making the already quite visible intersection of disciplines even more dynamic and important.<\/li>\n<li>New technologies and applications such as embodied intelligence, AI bionics, and AI + quantum will proliferate. Take embodied intelligence for example, robots can therefore not rely on advance modeling, programming, purely self-learning stable walking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yao Zhizhi is a member of the 2000<a href=\"https:\/\/www.1ai.net\/en\/tag\/%e5%9b%be%e7%81%b5%e5%a5%96%e5%be%97%e4%b8%bb\" title=\"[Sees articles with labels of the Turing Prize winners]\" target=\"_blank\" >Turing Award winner<\/a>,<strong>He is also the only Chinese-American computer scientist to have received this award so far.<\/strong>The school was established in April of this year by Tsinghua University, with Yao as its dean.
