With generative AI (AI<\/a>) and the rapid emergence of all types of productivity-enhancing tools, professionals are increasingly concerned about their ability to keep their jobs.<\/p>\n

Discussing the issue of AI replacing jobs, Mira Murati, former CTO of OpenAI and now CEO of Thinking Machines Lab, noted that \"some creative jobs may go away, but maybe they shouldn't have existed in the first place if they're not producing high quality content. \" Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, expressed similar sentiments, suggesting that programming may have run its course with the rapid spread of AI and advising the next generation to choose more secure career paths such as biology, education, manufacturing or agriculture.<\/p>\n

Anthropic<\/a> CEO Dario Amodei joined the discussion, emphasizing that the field of software engineering is extremely vulnerable to AI automation. However, there are still key challenges to the adoption of AI in workplace scenarios, such as a lack of human touch. As you know, many organizations have adopted AI to cut operational costs. Some publishing organizations followed this trend and laid off most of their staff. But they soon realized that this was counterproductive and had to rehire professionals to correct AI mistakes and add a human touch.<\/p>\n

Mike Krieger, co-founder of Instagram and chief product officer at Anthropic, recently made a similar point to Amodei, noting that the role of software engineers is rapidly evolving, and that they'll soon start inspecting AI-generated code rather than writing it themselves.<\/p>\n

Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), also claimed that AI could force software developers to stop programming, prompting them to upgrade their skills for the new frontier.
