As a result, many writers found out that their work may have been used for Meta's AI training without their permission.<\/p>\n<p>The open letter states that this behavior<strong>\"Clear infringement\" of copyright law<\/strong>. \"It's clearly illegal in the UK to grab writers' work for generative AI training without authorization, yet tech giants like Meta operate in the UK without adequate scrutiny of the practices involved. The letter also asks Meta executives to provide a detailed response to the allegations of massive copyright infringement, and clearly<strong>Commitment to respect authors' copyrights and stop illegal behavior<\/strong>and to the writers for past infringements<strong>Payment of compensation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to 1AI, the UK Writers' Guild has said that the legal action against Meta exposes how global tech companies are<strong>Unscrupulous exploitation of copyrighted content<\/strong>and at the same time<strong>Confident that he will not be held accountable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A Meta spokesperson responded that the company has developed \"transformative open-source generative AI large-scale language models\" that drive innovation, productivity and creativity for individuals and businesses.
