However, this outline, when sent to another law firm, K&L Gates, theContains fake research content generated by AI<\/strong>, and K&L Gates added them to the document.<\/p>\n

Judge Wilner said, \"It is clear that no attorney or staff member checked the content of these studies prior to the submission of the documents.\"<\/p>\n

When Judge Wilner reviewed this document, he found thatAt least two of the cited legal sources simply do not exist<\/strong>.. After asking K&L Gates for further clarification, the latter resubmitted its documents, and Judge Wilner stated that the new documents containedMore false citations than the initial two errors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, Judge Wilner issued an order thatRequire attorneys to provide a sworn statement confirming the use of AI<\/strong>. The attorney responsible for creating the outline admitted to using Google's Gemini, as well as CoCounsel, an AI legal research tool in Westlaw Precision.<\/p>\n
