Most of these departures are longtime employees, and their departure directly threatens Meta's ability to innovate in the AI space.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, five of Llama's former co-founders, Guillaume Lample and Timoth\u00e9e Lacroix, left to join Paris-based Mistral AI. Other departures were dispersed to well-known companies or research organizations such as Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and Microsoft AI.<\/p>\n<p>The report also points out that Meta is facing multiple pressures in addition to severe talent loss. Internally, development of its largest AI model, Behemoth, is lagging, and its latest release, Llama 4, has been poorly received by the developer community; externally, the company is in the midst of a legal battle, with a lawsuit over Meta AI's copyrights alleging that its Llama model was trained using a dataset of pirated books.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its struggles, Meta is still working hard to advance its AI platform.
