The letter states, \"Instead of paying the writers a percentage of the revenue generated by their work, these companies are paying the writers what should be their remuneration to technology built on their unpaid labor.\" The writers argued that this behavior seriously undermined their rights.<\/p>\n<p>1<a href=\"https:\/\/www.1ai.net\/en\/tag\/ai\" title=\"[View articles tagged with [AI]]\" target=\"_blank\" >AI<\/a>Noting that, in addition to asking publishers to use only human voiceovers, writers are calling on publishers to make a commitment to<strong>Never release machine-generated books<\/strong>, and do not replace human employees with AI tools or downgrade human employee positions to AI monitors. They emphasized that the value and irreplaceability of the labor of human creators should be respected.<\/p>\n<p>The open letter received widespread attention upon its release. Within 24 hours of its initial release, an additional 1,100 writers signed on in support, according to National Public Radio (NPR).<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, writers are defending their rights through legal channels. They have filed lawsuits against a number of tech companies for the unauthorized use of their books to train artificial intelligence models.
