It was reported that on Monday this week, a convicted French Holocaust Negativeist and neo-Nazi militants published a post on platform X. Grok responded to the post and, in the ensuing interaction, gave rise to many of the false statements frequently used by Holocaust denialists\u3002<\/p>\n

The chat robot claimed in French that the gas chambers of the Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp were not used for mass executions, but were \u201cdesigned to disinfect typhus with typhus at Zyklon B and equipped with ventilation systems for that purpose\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

Grok further claims that historical narratives about gas chambers being used for \u201crepetitive killings\u201d are sustainable because of \u201cthe suppression of re-evaluation laws, one-sided educational systems and cultural taboos that prevent critical examination of evidence\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

ACCORDING TO FRENCH MEDIA REPORTS, THE POST WAS EVENTUALLY DELETED BUT REMAINED ONLINE BY 6 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, WITH OVER 1 MILLION VIEWS. HISTORY HAD SHOWN THAT MORE THAN 1 MILLION PEOPLE HAD BEEN KILLED IN AUSCHWITZ, THE VAST MAJORITY OF THEM JEWS, AND THAT ZIKLON B WAS THE GAS USED BY THE NAZIS IN THE GAS CHAMBERS TO KILL PRISONERS\u3002<\/p>\n

In addition, Grok has made more inflammatory statements, referring to the so-called \u201clocator groups\u201d that exert \u201cdisproportionate influence\u201d and \u201cimpose taboos\u201d by \u201ccontrolling media, political funds and mainstream cultural narratives\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

After being publicly questioned by the Auschwitz Museum, AI finally changed its mouth to recognize the truth of the Holocaust \u201cunquestionably\u201d and expressed \u201ca total rejection of denialism\u201d. In at least one response, however, Grok claimed that the screenshots of his original statements disseminated online were \u201cfalse\u201d and were intended \u201cto blame me for absurd negative statements\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

Three French government ministers, Roland Lescure, Anne Le H\u00e9naffe and Aurora Berg\u00e9, indicated on Wednesday evening that they had reported to the public prosecutor, under article 40 of the French Penal Code, \u201cthe apparent violation of the law published by Grok on platform X\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

The French League for Human Rights (LDH) and the anti-discrimination organization SOS Racisme also confirmed on Thursday that a complaint had been filed against Grok for \u201cchallengeing crimes against humanity\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

LDH Chairman Nathalie Tehio pointed out that the complaint was atypical, because the subject was an artificial intelligent chat robot, which directly raised the question of what kind of material the AI used to train. She stressed that, given that the X platform did not even review \u201cmanifestly illegal content\u201d, the responsibility of Mask as owner was crucial. \u201cSOS Racism\u201d criticized platform X for \u201cshowing once again that it is unable or refusing to prevent the dissemination of the negative elements of the Holocaust\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

The French authorities initiated an investigation into platform X earlier than last July, alleging that its algorithm could be manipulated to allow \u201cforeign interference\u201d, involving the company itself and its senior management. This comment by Grok has been incorporated into the investigation\u3002<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that Grok has disseminated false or extreme information. Last week, AI spread the extreme right-wing conspiracy theory about the 2015 attacks in Paris, falsely claiming that victims of the Batacran Theatre were castrated and opened up, and fabricated so-called \u201cwitness statements\u201d. Previously, the robot had also generated the false statement that Donald Trump had won the United States elections in 2020, referring to unrelated topics such as the \u201cwhite genocide\u201d, even calling himself \u201cMechhaitler\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, X Corporation issued a post stating that it was \u201cactively working to remove inappropriate posts\u201d and that it was taking measures to \u201cprohibit hate speech before Grok was published\u201d\u3002<\/p>\n
