US startup rabbit.tech launches pocket AI device Rabbit R1<\/a>The first 10,000 units of Rabbit were sold out in just one day for $199, and were claimed to be able to perform tasks instead of the user, keeping the user away from apps.<\/p>\n

However, a developer has exposed on github that this is in fact a deception and said that he will soon release a part of the source code of this so-called Large Action Model (LAM) to expose the truth.<\/p>\n

For those with a technical background, it's allegedly obvious that there's no artificial intelligence or large-scale action models yet. In fact, they just rely on a couple of Playwright automation scripts to do the work for you, which is why they only support four apps:Spotify, Midjourney, Doordash and UberEats.<\/p>\n

More worryingly, they require you to log in through their web portal, which is only for VMs connected through NoVNC. They also want you to fill in your private password on their VM. To make matters worse, they store user sessions on their own computers without any additional layers of security. This is both a blatant disregard for user privacy and an extremely poor engineering practice.<\/p>\n
