As many as 64% respondents believe that the output and productivity of artificial intelligence are "equivalent" to the quality of work that human managers can produce, or even "possibly better."

In fact, AI technology has become increasingly powerful and diverse. For example, ChatGPT has been able to generate videos, create marketing materials, and write lesson plans since its launch in November 2022. In early March, startup Cognition launched Devin, calling it the "first AI software engineer" that can fix bugs and train other AI models.

Executives also seemed uneasy about the possibility that these tools could lead to lower employee pay.Beautiful.ai According to a survey by Bloomberg, 62% of executives surveyed said their employees believe AI will eventually cause them to lose their jobs, while 45% of executives believe the technology will lead to lower pay for the entire workforce.

The survey also noted: “There is no doubt that the introduction of AI tools has caused employees to question their value to the company.”

More and more studies have revealed a common view: employees generally believe that artificial intelligence technology will have an impact on their income. Last May, a survey released by market research software platform Pollfish showed that nearly 79% of American employees expressed concerns about the adoption of artificial intelligence technology, including that it would lead to a decrease in their salary levels.

What’s more, the technology appears to be starting to threaten some jobs. Layoffs.fyi According to data from the 2024 Tech Industry Association, as of April 28, more than 70,000 employees have been laid off in the technology industry in 2024. Analysts point out that this phenomenon may be closely related to the increase in investment in artificial intelligence. For example, the CEO of an e-commerce company revealed that he used an artificial intelligence chatbot to replace 90%'s support staff. A freelance writer complained that her clients began to be snatched away by artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT.

However, AI technology is not entirely negative, it is also likely to be a boost to pay. A study conducted by technology consulting firm Access Partnership in December last year found that employers are willing to offer at least a $30% pay raise to employees with AI skills. In order to attract these talents, large companies are even offering salaries far exceeding six figures. In addition, generative AI has also spawned new professions, such as ChatGPT course instructors and content editors.

Although there is still much uncertainty about how artificial intelligence will revolutionize the world of work, Beautiful.ai Data from , shows that 64% managers said they have begun using AI technology in daily or weekly employee management since the beginning of 2024.

“Organizations can expect to see even more possibilities from AI in the future,” the survey states. “The question now is no longer whether this technology should be adopted in the workplace, but rather when and how to effectively integrate it into daily operations.”

April 29, 2011 - A new survey reveals widespread concern among managers that the widespread use of powerful generative AI tools such as OpenAI ChatGPT in the workplace could adversely affect their pay scales.
