March 8 (Bloomberg) -- The Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce said on Friday that, according to Reuters, theMuskUnderAIcompany xA Purchased a property in Memphis, Tennessee, USA.Approximately 93,000 square metersof industrial land. The company is accelerating the expansion of its AI infrastructure as the industry becomes more competitive.

The investment is a continuation of an expansion plan from last December. xAI announced at the time that it would locallyExpansion of the Colossus supercomputerThis allows it to hold at least 1 million GPUs.
Colossus is considered crucial to Musk's AI efforts, as he seeks to gain an edge over OpenAI. Recently, Musk's beef with ChatGPT developer CEO Sam Altman has intensified, and he has even tried to seize control of OpenAI.
The Chamber says the Colossus supercomputer is moving toward "supercluster" size, in line with plans announced by xAI last December.
However, the expansion of AI infrastructure has also drawn criticism from environmentalists because data centers are extremely energy intensive.
The Memphis Chamber of Commerce revealed that the new xAI facility is adjacent to an $80 million (note: currently about Rs. 579 million) water recycling treatment plant and features the world's largest Tesla Megapack battery storage system to support data center operations.
News broke on Wednesday that Tesla will also build a factory in Texas, also covering about 93,000 square meters, to manage and store its Megapack battery products.
