Developers utilizing the Anthropic API can now broaden Claude's knowledge with current data from the real world by enabling web search tools when sending requests. This also means that developers can use it to build Claude-powered AI apps/intelligences that provide the latest insights.
When Claude receives a request for updated information or expertise, itsWill apply reasoning skills to determine if using web searches will help provide more accurate answers. If the search behavior is helpful, Claude performs a targeted search query, retrieves relevant results, analyzes them for key information, and provides a comprehensive answer with source material citations.
In addition, Claude can perform intelligent body manipulation: in the form of a progressive searchUse previous results to guide subsequent queries, thus conducting simple research and generating more comprehensive answers.
Anthropic gives four major application scenarios for the API web search feature:
