Mark ' s long-term experiments show that in 2003 users were able to focus on an average of about 2 and a half minutes before switching to other tasks; in 2012 they dropped to about 75 seconds; and in studies from 2014 to 2020 they dropped further to an average of 47 seconds. She also observed in the experiment that the rapid switch of attention was directly related to the rise in pressure。
The part she's more worried about about AI chat robots is that deep processing is outsourced. Mark indicates that when people take the initiative to assess, summarize and understand information, it is more likely to learn, understand and remember it
