Demonstrations showed that the calls went through, whether it was an iPhone, an old flip phone or a landline. The feature is currently only available in the U.S., with 15 minutes of free calling per month, or users can download the ChatGPT App to create an account to extend their calling time.
In addition to launching the hotline service in the U.S., OpenAI has also integrated access to ChatGPT for the social app WhatsApp. Users don't need an OpenAI account, they just need to add 1 (800) CHATGPT (the same number as the hotline) to their WhatsApp contacts to start using ChatGPT.
At present WhatsApp access to ChatGPT only supports text input, does not support advanced voice mode and visual input, but integrates all the intelligent functions of the o1-mini model. it home cited sources reported that OpenAI is also developing WhatsApp user authentication function, but the specific on-line time has not yet been announced.
The two new features stem from OpenAI's recent Hack Week event, where Kevin Weil, OpenAI's chief product officer, said the company is working to make ChatGPT, WhatsApp integrations, and hotline services more easily accessible to a wider range of people, marking an important step in expanding the scenarios for the use of AI chatbots.
