January 24th.Perplexity AI The company today (January 24) announced the launch of the Perplexity Assistant app for Android, an announcement thatEnables multimodal interaction experience and cross-application task execution capabilities.

The AI assistant not only answers routine questions, but also performs tasks such as writing emails, setting reminders, and making dinner reservations, and supports multimodal interactions that allow users to ask questions about what's on the screen or let it "watch" what the camera is capturing.
Users can ask questions based on screen content, or use the camera to let the AI "see" the real world and interact with it. For example, recognizing what the user is displaying, understanding what the user is photographing, and so on.
Perplexity Assistant can perform a variety of tasks such as writing emails, setting reminders, making dinner reservations, hailing a cab, and more, and currently supports Spotify, YouTube, and Uber, as well as email, texting, and clock apps.

- Users simply say, "Call me a cab," and the assistant asks for a destination and automatically opens the Uber app to display information about available vehicles.
- The user requests "Open a great podcast" and the assistant immediately plays the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience on YouTube.
- Using the phone's camera, the assistant successfully recognized the Pokémon card in the McDonald's Happy Meal displayed by the user.
- Assistant can help users compose and send SMS to their family members based on their address book information.
