March 5, 2011 - Today Shanghai Jiao Tong University released the AI Use the latest norms, which make it clear that students should adhere to theAIThe value orientation of assisted learning, pointing out that students should understand and comply with the norms for the use of artificial intelligence in various courses, and the school will pursue relevant responsibilities if there are any relevant violations; at the same time, teachers should be based on various educational and teaching scenarios, and effectively manage the phenomenon of value misconduct.
The Shanghai Jiao Tong University Specification on the Use of AI in Education and Teaching covers various aspects such as scenario analysis, design and development, application deployment, evaluation and feedback, adjustment and maintenance, and management and optimization.Shanghai Jiao Tong UniversityIt is hoped that through innovative assessment systems and standards, risks such as technological disablement, educational differentiation, algorithmic discrimination, privacy leakage and data security, and information security threats can be effectively prevented.
"Under the premise of complying with domestic and international AI laws and regulations, SJTU encourages the active exploration of AI usage in the field of higher education teaching, promotes technological empowerment in various scenarios, guards against technological risks, builds a knowledge production model and a new education system that meets the needs of the new era, and empowers students to improve their comprehensive literacy." The Code states.
The Code establishes norms for teachers, students, AI products and services, other stakeholders, etc... Students are expected to understand and comply with the norms for the use of AI in each course, and to follow the teaching program, intellectual property and other laws and regulations, and academic integrity requirements in classroom learning, assignment feedback, and so on. If there is any violation, the university will pursue relevant responsibilities.
The Norms are clear.Students should adhere to the value proposition of AI-assisted learning, form an adaptive learning mode, and consciously label and cite the necessary information of AI tools, to develop autonomous and reflective abilities in the process of human-machine collaboration in knowledge learning and innovation creation, and to promote the development of human intelligence with artificial intelligence.
And in the normative requirements for teachers its stated that teachers are the first ones responsible for AI + instructional design.Reasonable, compliant and effective use of AI technology products or services should be made on the premise of complying with the requirements of education and teaching related rules and regulations.. The school may be held accountable for situations where undocumented or risky AI tools are used.
Teachers should pay full attention to students' autonomy and sense of access in AI-assisted scenarios. By means of teaching feedback mechanisms and learning effectiveness assessment, they can help students balance autonomous learning and AI support, and pay attention to the differentiated needs of students to avoid the negative effects brought about by technological thresholds or uneven resources.
In addition, teachers should be based on various educational and teaching scenarios to effectively manage the phenomenon of value malfunction. In the process of education and teaching, they should fully discuss with students and other subjects, and formulate the rules and requirements for the use of AI tools by students in the form of syllabi, classroom rules, grading standards, etc., and make public explanations of the scope of the use of AI tools and the templates for citing AI-generated information.
1AI noted that previously, Fudan University East Normal University and Beijing Normal University had also issued norms for the use of AI, and the "Regulations of Fudan University on the Use of AI Tools in Undergraduate Thesis (Design) (for Trial Implementation)" issued at the end of November 2024 put forward the "Six Prohibitions", which provide detailed norms on the use of AI tools in the process of writing undergraduate thesis (design). In June 2024, East China Normal University and Beijing Normal University jointly launched the "Guidelines for Students' Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence," pointing out that when students use AI to complete academic tasks, they must clearly differentiate between content directly generated by the AI and personal contributions, and ensure that the AI-generated content does not exceed 20% of the full text.
