- Free and Open Deep Research Deep Reasoning: The Deep Research feature, previously limited to Gemini Premium users, is now available to all platform users. This feature helps users efficiently explore complex topics by generating structured reports through AI.
1AI cites a blog post that describes how Galaxy S23 series mobile and web users can use 2.0 Flash, Personalisation and Deep Research for free straight away, while Galaxy S25 series users will need to be tied to the Google One AI Premium program (which comes with free eligibility on Samsung devices) to unlock 2.0 Pro (experimental).
Google also announced two new AI search features
- AI Overviews (AI Overviews): Generate smart summaries at the top of search results with generative AI to cover more complex query needs.
- AI Mode: An experimental feature, centered on Gemini 2.0, that provides full AI responses in the form of natural conversations, replacing traditional web page link results, with support for multiple rounds of follow-up questions and assisted link jumping.
Currently, AI Mode is only available to Google One AI Premium subscribers in the U.S., and will be rolled out gradually based on feedback.
Google did not provide specific data on the improvements of 2.0 Pro (experimental) over the standard version; and the Personalisation feature requires access to a user's search history, which could raise data security concerns.
