Citing sources, the Financial Times reported on Friday that xAI is seeking up to $6 billion in investment and is in talks with investors in Hong Kong to challenge OpenAI. This is the second time this month that Musk has denied reports about xAI's financing. Earlier, he also denied Bloomberg's report that xAI had received a $5 billion investment, calling it "fake news from Bloomberg."
xAI was founded by Musk last year and its first product is the chatbot Grok, which is seen as a competitor to OpenAI's ChatGPT.
