April 24, 2010 - Meta today announced that it will be offering a new service to all Ray-Ban Meta Smart glassesA new real-time translation feature has been introduced to users. Previously only available as a beta to some early adopters, the feature is now officially available to the general public.
According to 1AI, the real-time translation feature supports four languages - English, French, Italian and Spanish - and allows users to translate these languages into each other in real time during conversations. As long as the corresponding language packs are downloaded in advance, users can use the function even without Wi-Fi or mobile network connection. When communicating with another person, the user can hear the real-time translation of the other person's words through the smart glasses, while the other person can view the translated conversation on the user's phone. Simply say "Hey Meta, start real-time translation" to activate the function, realizing cross-language communication without barriers.
Meta also plans to introduce "real-time AI" to the smart glasses in the future, with a built-in camera that can "see" what the wearer is seeing, allowing for real-time AI interactions. With a built-in camera, the smart glasses will be able to "see" what the wearer is looking at, enabling real-time interactive AI conversations, Meta said, adding that the smart glasses will be able to provide hands-free assistance during activities such as cooking, gardening, and exploring. Users don't need to say a wake-up call to ask a question, and the AI system understands the context and responds by referring to previous inquiries.
Rumor has it that Apple is considering developing smart glasses similar to the Meta Ray-Ban. While the Apple glasses may not have augmented reality capabilities, they are expected to come with technology such as AI, microphones, and cameras.
