May 4, 2011 - On April 25th, theChina Translation AssociationThe Translation Technology Professional Committee released the "Guidelines for the Application of Generative Artificial Intelligence in the Translation Industry (2025)" at the 2025 China Translation Association Annual Conference.

Prof. Wang Huashu, Secretary General of the Translation Technology Professional Committee of the China Translation Association, issued the guidelines
According to the China Translators Association, as generative artificial intelligence continues to make breakthroughs, its application in the field of language processing is profoundly reshaping the landscape of the translation industry. The Guide was born out of necessity.Reference to relevant national and international normsIt focuses on four dimensions: scene application, capability upgrading, technology ethics, and quality control, and specifies ten key application areas, including concept reconstruction, scene adaptation, capability building, knowledge empowerment, tip engineering, informed authorization, responsibility definition, ethical anchoring, quality control and humanistic perseverance, and focuses on cracking the three core contradictions of efficiency and quality, innovation and risk, and technology and humanism, and provides systematic guidance for the industry.
In terms of efficiency and quality, the Guide advocates a human-centered, technology-enabled approach to promote the transformation of AI from an "assistive tool" to an "intelligent collaborator".Through customized pre-translation preparation, intelligent in-translation output, and convenient post-translation optimizationIn addition, it realizes the synergy of text analysis, corpus mining and data integration, and integrates real-time mutual translation, terminology unification, style migration, semantic correlation, intelligent touch-up, automatic proofreading and intelligent typesetting to build a full-process solution from task decomposition to quality assessment.
In terms of innovative applications, the Guide states that. The core advantage of generative AI in translation is the ability to integrate, generate and apply knowledgeThe system of structured translation knowledge is constructed through multilingual and multidomain data resources. It builds a structured translation knowledge system through multilingual and multi-domain data resources, promotes the formation of a sustainable evolving knowledge base, improves the efficiency of translators' knowledge acquisition and reuse, and builds a future-oriented enhanced translation knowledge ecology.
In terms of risk control, the Guidelines emphasize the two-pronged approach of ethical governance and quality control to ensure the responsible application of technology. Specifics include:Informed authorization must be obtained from the customer prior to use; clarify human and machine roles and responsibilities in the translation; identify ethically sensitive content in the original text and strengthen ethical awareness in the use of technology; and strictly comply with the Data Security Law of the People's Republic of China and other regulations to ensure data compliance, security traceability, and the protection of privacy and commercial confidentiality.
In terms of technical application and humanistic values, the Guide particularly emphasizes "humanistic perseverance", pointing out that the core competitiveness of translators lies in their reflective, critical and cultural insights.Translators should remain rational in the midst of technological developmentsIn order to achieve the goal of "good use but not dependence", adhere to the "technology for use, people-oriented", and give full play to the subjective initiative in the synergistic, and assume the responsibility of cultural interpretation and the construction of multiple contexts.
1AI notes that in response to the impact of AI on translation talents, the Guide emphasizes that translators should improve their language comprehension, expression, translation and cross-cultural communication skills, constantly update their knowledge, and improve their literacy with the help of technology. While low-end translation may be replaced, high-level translation still requires human cultural understanding and creativity.
