IBM and Roche Group Partner to Create AI-Driven Blood Glucose Testing Tool

June 10 news.IBM and the Roche Group (Roche) yesterday jointly released their co-created AI Driven solutions - Accu-Chek SmartGuide Predict application from Roche Group - Aims to optimizediabetesdaily management.

IBM and Roche Group Partner to Create AI-Driven Blood Glucose Testing Tool

The solution emphasizes the importance of cross-industry collaboration and teamwork in supporting the daily lives of people with diabetes and the delivery of healthcare.The solution was launched in Switzerland a few months agoIt was presented during the Swiss Economic Forum in Interlaken, Switzerland, on June 5-6 as a key example of digital innovation and cross-industry cooperation.

The Accu-Chek SmartGuide Predict app combines the experience of both companies in healthcare and digitalization.Aims to help diabetics better control their blood sugar with AI-driven solutions.

The application works with Roche Group's Accu-Chek SmartGuide Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensor.With the help of a prediction algorithm based on real-time blood glucose values, providing insight into improving glycemic control and reducing the risk of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia in people with diabetes.

The partnership is dedicated to addressing unmet needs in the daily care of people with diabetes, such as concerns about hypoglycemia or nighttime hypoglycemia.The AI capabilities in the Accu-Chek SmartGuide Predict app provide information to people with diabetes thatHelp them to decide on preventive treatment and to make positive interventions.

The application is based on real-time data from Roche's Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensors and user input to support people with diabetes through three key predictive capabilities:

  • Blood glucose prediction:Provides continuous prediction of blood glucose conditions, visualizing blood glucose ranges over the next 2 hours and continuously anticipating potential blood glucose abnormalities;
  • Hypoglycemia prediction:Provides continuous monitoring of hypoglycemia and warns diabetics of hypoglycemic events up to 30 minutes in advance;
  • Nocturnal hypoglycemia prediction:Provides a nighttime monitoring function that predicts a diabetic's risk of hypoglycemia during the 7 hours before going to sleep at night and advises whether precautions should be taken, such as supplementing with a snack before bedtime.
