appleIn an early morning announcement.COO(COO) Jeff Williams will step down from his position later this month and officially retire later this year. After stepping down, he will continue to report to CEO Cook and will be responsible for Apple's design team as well as managing the wellness program.

After Williams' departure, Apple SVP Sabih Khan will reportedly take over as COO, and the Apple design team will report directly to Cook.
It is reported that,Williams has led the development of the iPod, iPhone, and Apple Watch., was named COO in 2015.It had been seen as Cook's successor and was even referred to as 'Cook's Cook'.Other potential candidates within Apple reportedly include software chief Craig Federighi, and hardware engineering chief John Ternus.
According to a Bloomberg report, John Ternus is most likely to be Cook's successor when he retires.
And Sabih Khan, a 30-year Apple veteran who joined Apple's executive team in 2019, took over supply chain management when he took over. Bloomberg reports that Khan will face a number of challenges after taking over as COO, including slowing iPhone growth.
Cook responded to Williams' retirement in a statement, according to Bloomberg:"Jeff's true legacy is embodied in the exceptional team he created, and while he will be greatly missed, he entrusted the future to incredible people."
