August 6 News.Grok Newly Launched Generative AI Video Tool Grok Imagine It has a "spicy" mode, which is considered a potential legal risk. Unlike other video generation tools such as Google's Veo and OpenAI's Sora, Grok Imagine seems to have no qualms about generating adult content and celebrity face-swapping videos, according to TheVerge. In its first use of the tool, it even went so far as to generate a topless video clip of Taylor Swift without being explicitly asked to do so.
According to 1AI, the iOS version of Grok Imagine allows users to generate images from text prompts and quickly turn them into video clips with four preset modes: "Custom," "Normal," "Funny," and "Spicy. "Spicy" to quickly turn images into video clips. While many image generators typically avoid generating celebrity images, when asked to generate an image of "Taylor Swift celebrating Coachella with the boys," the tool offered more than 30 to choose from, many of which featured Swift in revealing clothing.
Users simply open a picture of Swift in a silver skirt and strapless top, click on the "Make Video" option in the bottom right corner, select "Spicy" mode from the drop-down menu, and confirm their year of birth (although age restrictions are in place in the U.K., there is no requirement for age verification when downloading the app). (Despite age restrictions in the UK, age verification is not required when downloading the app), and the video is instantly created. In the video, Swift strips down to her thong and dances in front of an indifferent AI-generated audience.
Although the image of Swift generated by Grok is not perfect, and most of the images have a "Valley of Terror"-like unnaturalness, it is still recognizable as her.
In addition, the image generator can also generate realistic photos of children on request, but thankfully refuses to animate children's images inappropriately, although the "Spicy" option is still available. In all tests, just some normal movements were added.
xAI's Acceptable Use Policy does prohibit the "pornographic portrayal of people," but Grok Imagine does not appear to have taken any steps to prevent users from generating images of celebrities like Swift, while offering a service specifically designed to create suggestive videos that include partial nudity. And age verification appears only once and is extremely easy to bypass without any proof of the user's claimed age.
According to xAI CEO Elon Musk, more than 34 million images have been generated through Grok Imagine since Monday, and its use is "spreading like wildfire".
