Aug. 14, 2011 - Tech media outlet 9To5Google reported today thatGoogle Gemini The AI Assistant App version now supports Memory and Ad Hoc Chat.

The details of the two functions are described below:
I. "Memory":
When this feature is turned on, Gemini remembers and learns from the user's conversations.Remember information and preferences shared by users in ongoing chats,The end result is that Gemini "knows all the user's backgrounds like an old friend, enabling more natural conversations.".
When this feature is launched, the "Saved Messages" page in the Account menu within the app will be replaced by a new "Memories" page, but the original functionality will still be available, and users will be able to turn off this new feature at any time.
This feature is currently available to Gemini 2.5 Pro users in select countries. This feature will also be available to Gemini 2.5 Flash users in the EU, UK, Switzerland and other regions in the coming weeks.
II. "Ad hoc chats":
The concept is similar to the "No Trace Mode" of web browsers. This mode allows the user to have a conversation with Gemini without affecting future chats, and in this mode the user can discuss something personal with Gemini or brainstorm an idea that is different from the usual style.
In more detail, the content in Ad Hoc Chats will not appear in a user's history or Gemini app activity, nor will it be used by Google to train AI models or personalize the Gemini experience. However, the chat logs will still be stored for 72 hours.to respond to and address users' questions.
Users can find this feature in the progressively rolled out burger menu(classifier for sums of money:Dotted line chat bubble icon), clicking on the icon will take you to "Ad Hoc Chat", which is available to some users today and is scheduled to go live in the coming weeks.
