In a statement issued through his spokesman on the same day, UN Secretary-General Guterres said the General Assembly resolutionMarking an important step in global efforts to harness the benefits of artificial intelligence and address its risks.
“Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence Governance"The Mechanism will provide an inclusive platform for States and stakeholders within the framework of the United Nations to come together to discuss the key topics in the field of artificial intelligence that humanity is currently facing.
And."Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence"The panel of 40 experts is positioned as an important bridge between cutting-edge artificial intelligence research and policymaking. By providing rigorous and independent scientific assessments, the panel will assist the international community in anticipating emerging challenges and making informed decisions about the governance of this transformative technology.
United Nations Secretary-General Guterres will soon launch an open call for nominations for members of the Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence. The panel will present its annual report at the Global Dialogue on the Governance of Artificial Intelligence, to be held in Geneva in July 2026 and in New York in 2027, respectively.
