The first "100 Most Influential People in Global AI" list was created in 2023 against the backdrop of ChatGPT's release that made the public realize the potential of AI, and this is the third year that it has published the annual list, 1AI quoted a blog post as describing. By focusing on people rather than machines, TIME hopes to present the leaders, innovators, advocates, artists, and policymakers who are driving the direction of AI.
In a blog post, TIME noted that the 2025 list highlights how fierce the competition for talent is.
