January 14thAnthropic Launch NewSmart agentFunctionWorkIt is located in a simplified version of Claude Code for non-developers and is currently open to Claude Max subscribers at the MacOS end in the form of a research preview。

It was described that Cowork is built on Claude Agent SDK, with the core ability to allow users to assign local folders to Claude so that they can read, edit or create files and perform continuous tasks with greater autonomy。
Cowork has a lower set threshold than Claude Code, which requires a commanding environment, for a wider daily working scene, such as the sorting of download documents, the generation of claims forms from the screenshots, or the production of a first draft of the report based on piecemeal notes。
Anthropic indicates that the Cowork design is inspired by the tendency of a large number of users to use Claude Code for non-coding tasks, and therefore wants to expand the smart proxy capacity to the general user community in a more user-friendly way。
Cowork supports users to add commands to their tasks at any time, and can use existing interfaces to access external information or handle browser-related tasks with Claude Browser plugins。
In terms of use methods, Cowork seeks confirmation from users before performing important operations, but Anthropic also emphasizes its potentially destructive ability to remove local files, alerts users to clear instructions and alerts to the risk of infusion of warnings. Anthropic points out that the safety of intelligent bodies remains an active research orientation within the industry。
Cowork is currently open only to Claude Max users and other users can join the alternate list. Anthropic indicates that it will continue to improve on the basis of feedback from the research preview phase and plans to support the inter-equipment synchronization and Windows platform in the future。
