March 7, 2011 - At the end of March last year, OpenAI announced a "small preview" of an artificial intelligence service called Voice Engine, claiming that the technology would be able to clone a person's voice in as little as 15 seconds of speech. OpenAI recently announced limited open access to Voice Engine, a model that creates synthesized speech based on a 15-second snippet of someone's voice.
