Wimbledon's use of AI penalties draws dissatisfaction from players, but the organizing committee responds that "the system is more reliable than manual labor."
July 6 (Bloomberg) -- The Wimbledon organizing committee has defended its use of an AI line-driving system in response to British No. 1 Jack Draper's questioning that it was "not 100 percent accurate," the Guardian reported on July 4 (Bloomberg). Draper said after his second-round defeat to 36-year-old former Wimbledon runner-up Marin Cilic that it was unfortunate that the manual line-drawing had been scrapped. Draper, 23, showed his displeasure with the AI-enabled Hawk-Eye system during Thursday's match.
