July 29 - Monday, local time.MicrosoftIssued a letter declaring as Edge BrowserLaunch of the new Copilot mode (experimental mode, currently Windows/Mac only), which Nadella says "is our first step in reinventing the browser for the age of AI."

Similar to Perplexity's Comet Browser, Microsoft has integrated into the Edge browser a AI AgentEdge is a new kind of AI. When this mode is turned on, Edge activates new AI features: instead of passively waiting for a user to click a button, it predicts what he or she might do next; instead of manually sifting through a huge number of tabs, Edge acts as a collaborative assistant to help users make sense of the information flow, so that it can get a full picture of what they're searching for online.
As you can see, when Copilot mode is turned on, Edge's new tab page appears as a clean, integrated input box that combines chat, search, and web navigation.
AI accelerates tasks by actively understanding user intent, so users simply state their question and Edge automatically performs the search, integrates, and delivers the final comparison results.
For example, when a user opens multiple vacation sites for comparison, he or she can directly ask "which property is closest to the beach and has a kitchen", and the AI will instantly provide the answer, avoiding the user from wasting too much time in this regard.
It also supports natural voice commands, such as "find a piece of information on a page" or "open multiple tabs to compare prices," designed to help users reduce clicks and typing.
Microsoft says more advanced features will follow (with additional licenses) that can perform complex tasks like ordering food and booking trips on behalf of the user (e.g., say "find paddleboard rentals near your work," and the AI will automatically recommend the best option, as well as check the weather, complete the booking, and even provide sunscreen recommendations or video tutorials).
In addition, the AI intelligently generates themed tasks based on browsing history. For example, when researching "how to start an online store," Copilot will automatically suggest tutorial videos on how to build a website, with clear visual cues to indicate the status of the background.
