Oct. 4 - OpenAI's personnel shakeup continues with the latest announcement that Tim Brooks, one of the co-leaders of the company's video generator Sora, has jumped ship to Google. Brooks had been co-leading Sora's development with William Peebles.
In his LinkedIn profile, Brooks claims to have spearheaded the project's research direction and large-scale model training. He announced on Friday (Oct. 4) on the social media platform X that he would be joining DeepMind, Google's artificial intelligence research arm, to work on video generation technology and "world simulators.
Brooks also wrote, "I've had a great two years developing Sora at OpenAI." Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis replied to Brooks on X, saying that he will help "realize the long-term dream of a world simulator." (Source: Caixin)
