U.S. plans to authorize Google and others to act as 'gatekeepers' to control AI chip exports

According to a Dec. 13 report, two people familiar with the matter revealed that the U.S. government is planning to authorize major cloud service providers such as Google and Microsoft to act as "gatekeepers" for the distribution of artificial intelligence (AI) chips globally, preventing countries such as China from acquiring advanced AI chips.
