On January 19, Axios reported a breakthrough in OpenAI's 'Operator' project, with CEO Sam Altman expected to brief the U.S. government behind closed doors on January 30th. Operator" is reportedly an autonomous AI intelligence developed by OpenAI with PhD-level capabilities that can independently perform tasks in a browser, such as writing code, booking travel, and managing schedules. According to M1 Astra's information, "Operator" will soon be available in ChatGPT macOS version. Previously, OpenAI revealed to the press in February 2024 that it was developing an AI Agent internally, and in November of the same year, OpenAI revealed that it would release an AI Agent tool codenamed 'Operator' in January 2025. On January 20, Sam Altman posted that OpenAI would not be deploying an AGI next month, and that the company was not building one; Altman also revealed that there would be a "very cool" product coming out next month, but that he hoped users would lower their expectations a hundredfold.
