New Zealand Releases First National Artificial Intelligence Strategy

New Zealand recently officially launched its first national artificial intelligence strategy, aiming to boost productivity and enhance national competitiveness. New Zealand's Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, Shane Retti, announced on August 8 that AI is expected to contribute up to NZ$76 billion (about US$45.5 billion) to New Zealand's gross domestic product (GDP) by 2038. However, Reti noted that New Zealand is still lagging behind other developed economies in terms of AI readiness, with many businesses not yet planning to adopt AI technology.
