APPLE IS LOOKING OUTSIDE FOR A NEW HEAD OF AI

Apple is looking for a new head for its AI department to replace the current manager, John Giannandrea. The direct cause of the change was the poor release of Apple Inteligence and the repeated delays in the firm ' s long-promised major Siri upgrade. Giannandrea was transferred from AI in March 2025, but Apple has not yet identified a full successor to the position for months. Following Giannandrea’s departure, Apple had appointed Apple Vision Pro’s head, Mike Rockwell, to temporarily take over the development of Siri. While Rockwell lacked a professional AI context, Apple valued his technical expertise, his experience in successfully delivering new products and his outstanding leadership. Rockwell was seen as a strong successor, but at present the possibility of his formal succession has been significantly reduced, and Bloomberg reports that Apple executives have turned their eyes outside the company to find the best leaders in the AI industry to fill the gap。
