OpenAI has introduced a new "credible contact" feature for ChatGPT, which encourages adult users to contact others on their own initiative and automatically sends a reminder to contacts to allow them to communicate more. At present, OpenAI deals with potential self-harm and suicides by means of automatic and manual review. When the dialogue triggers the alarm system, the information is forwarded to the manual security team. The official indicated that every time such notification is received, it is manually checked and the work is completed within one hour. ChatGPT sends e-mails, text messages or alerts to a trusted contact if the company determines that the user is at risk of serious self-harm or suicide.
