The Claude Desktop desktop application under the Anthropic flag is officially blocked for third-party API access after being updated to version 1.6259.1. On 7 May, the application added a model ID white list mechanism to the Gateway model, which will verify model information returned from the interface and allow only entries named "claude" or "antropic" to pass. This change resulted in the continued use of third-party models such as DeepSeek V4, GPT and Grok, previously accessed. In addition to the desktop end, Claude Code CLI 2.1.129, published on the same day, tightens the gateway integration rules and adjusts the model discovery function from the default automatic to the manual mode of setting environmental variables. Technical findings indicate that the current limitations are mainly at the model ID level, and that users have used local agents to map third-party model ID as Claude ' s official name to bypass validation. However, based on the adjustment trend of Anthropic, this method of using modified model ID is also likely to be blocked in the future。
