On April 12, according to The Information reports that TikTok is already working on an AI-based virtual digital person feature designed to better help e-commerce platform merchants promote and sell.
Simply put, the function can generate virtual Netflix images for merchants, so that they can act as protagonists and create appropriate advertisements based on scripts provided by advertisers and tips given by stores, thus helping merchants to promote and bring goods. Foreign media believe that this function may compete with human creators for the market.
The source also mentioned that TikTok has tested the AI feature internally and concluded that it's not ready for release and attracts fewer e-commerce sales than a real-life webcam, though TikTok believes that AI will be an effective complementary form of existing advertising channels.
According to advertisers who have seen the TikTok program, the feature is still in its early stages and it's uncertain exactly when it will go live. In addition, the feature could change or even be axed as ByteDance follows up with testing. (Source: IT Home)
