The Code, which focuses on Safety and Security, Transparency and Copyright, will come into effect tomorrow (August 2nd).
xAI supports AI safety and will be signing the Code of Conduct on Safety and Security section of the EU AI Bill. xAI posted on the X platform that while one part of the code promotes AI safety, other parts of the requirements have a serious negative impact on innovation and its copyright provisions are clearly overbroad.
Alphabet's Google has said it will sign the code of conduct, while Microsoft president Brad Smith has said the company may do so. meta, the owner of Facebook, has said it won't sign the code, arguing that it introduces legal uncertainty for model developers and goes beyond the scope of the AI Act.
